REMY MA (26) SHOT A MEMEBER OF HER ENTOURAGE

Grammy-nominated rapper Remy Ma is promoted on her website as an up-from-the-streets artist who escaped the hard-knock life of the Bronx to become a hip-hop star.

Now Remy Ma, whose real name is Remy Smith, has been arrested on a charge of attempted murder over a shooting outside a nightclub in a posh Manhattan neighbourhood, police said Saturday.

She had been sought for questioning in the shooting of a 23-year-old woman early Saturday after a verbal dispute near Pizza Bar. She reported to police with her attorney and was also charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

Remy Ma pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and other counts Sunday in the shooting of a woman in a trendy Manhattan neighborhood.

At the rapper's arraignment, a judge granted the prosecution's request for bail to be set at $250,000. Remy Ma was jailed while the judge reviewed her bail offer.

The victim, Makeda Barnes-Joseph, was listed in stable condition at St. Vincent's Hospital.

Police found a woman with a gunshot wound to her lower torso early Saturday in the Meatpacking District, which is usually crowded with late-night revelers on weekends.

Three blocks away, officers discovered a luxury SUV owned by Remy Ma, whose real name is Remy Smith. The vehicle was involved in a single-car crash and abandoned, police said.

The owner of nearby nightspot Pizza Bar, Sasha Tcherekoff, said a review of security videotape taken inside the eatery showed the rapper and her friends having a good time before they exited. Police officials grabbed a copy of the security footage.

"The police have indicated to us that the altercation happened a block away," the owner said. "The security tapes determined there was no physical or verbal altercation while they were in the Pizza Bar." One of the Pizza Bar's employees recognized the star after she and a group of friends arrived (AP).

Singer Kelly Rowland collapsed on stage early today (Sunday, July 15) in Lagos , Nigeria as a result of dehydration.The former Destiny's Child star who just released her second solo album, was in the West African nation as part of The ThisDay Music Festival.Miss Rowland was taken to an undisclosed Lagos hospital for a check-up and is in good condition at present. She is expected to fly to the US on Monday and will continue the promotions for her "Ms. Kelly" album.
