Cavs sign ownership deal with China group that could make Lebron James the first bball billionaire....

With an eye on spreading the game on a global scale, the NBA has been quietly pushing for an international group to become involved in ownership on a minority level. And with a huge fan base already in China—mainly because of Houston All-Star Yao Ming(notes)—the league has entered into several ventures with the nation to develop players and build arenas to NBA specifications.

Huang and others in the group attended Games 1 and 2 of the Eastern Conference finals in Cleveland. On Friday, they sat courtside and watched James hit a game-winning 3-pointer in the final second to give the Cavaliers a 96-95 win and even the best-of-seven series which resumed Sunday night.

If approved, the deal would provide marketing opportunities for the Cavaliers and James, who is eligible to become a free agent in the summer of 2010. The 24-year-old MVP, who is already among the league’s most popular players in Asia, has stated he wants to become the first billionaire athlete. His brand overseas could be enhanced by playing for a team with Chinese business partners.

There has been ongoing speculation that James will leave Cleveland to play in a larger market like New York or Los Angeles because of the vast business opportunities. But James—and his corporate sponsors like Nike—have broader goals and may be able to attain them by tapping into China’s colossal consumer marketplace without him ever leaving Cleveland.

James has never given any indication he wants to leave the Cavaliers, who drafted the Akron, Ohio, native with the No. 1 overall pick in 2003. He won a gold medal with the U.S. team last summer at the Beijing Games and has made four trips to China, including one with the Cavs during the preseason two years ago.

“It’s a big market,” James said before Game 3. “They love the game of basketball. I’ve been over there the last four or five summers. It should be good. It should be fun.”

Ever since he’d become a celebrity, Will had been a different person. That mixed with his touring and promotions schedule and the life of a rap star is what made it so hard for anything in the child support case to move forward. His attitude also made things difficult.

Because I DVR Harlem Heights, you must know that this BET Reality show is full of high school drama. If Christian is not trying to get with every chick on the show, or Brooke is not having a conniption about something, what is the point??? 30 minutes is not enough for Brooke to completely empty her pie hole, and use her pre-Kanye statement. I mean Landon and might I say Bridget are completely out of their element. I say for the next season (if there be one) sans everyone but Landon and Bridget (find some other people that are about something) and lets make television for real up and coming young African-Americans. I really don't want one of Brianna's bags (but good luck to her) and if Jason says "splashy" or "wavy" I may vomit in my mouth. OK Ashley is a bartender, but what else??...is this to what we aspire as a people...LOL!!! Then we go to Pierre who obviously does not know that he is on television and we can rewind, because he straight called your boy Christian out during the Season Finale (is that what that was), "I know he (Christian) cares about you (Brooke) he told me (Pierre) himself". Then Pierre goes and tells Christian that Bridget likes him, when I thought he was going after her??? Pierre is a complete CORNBALL!!! Oh, and who is this girlfriend he is always talking about (laughs out super loud) Finished. I wouldn't be going through all of this if I would not have been told this...
